नामकरण / न्वारन कसरी गर्ने (Naming Ceremony Guide)
नामकरण (न्वारन) नवजात शिशुको नाम औपचारिक रूपमा राख्ने संस्कार हो। कतिपय हिन्दू परिवारमा यो जन्मेको ११ औँ दिनमा गरिन्छ, तर समय र विधि परिवार र समुदाय अनुसार फरक हुन्छ।
The naming ceremony (nwaran) is the rite of formally giving a newborn her name. Some Hindu families hold it on the 11th day after birth, but the timing and rituals differ by family and community.
नाम छान्न चाहनुहुन्छ भने पहिले राशि खोज्ने साधन प्रयोग गर्न सक्नुहुन्छ।
यो कहिले गरिन्छ / When it is held
धेरै परिवारले जन्मेको केही दिनपछि, प्रायः ११ औँ दिनमा न्वारन गर्छन्। कतिपय परिवारले अर्कै दिन वा केही पछि गर्छन्। कतिपय परिवारमा छैटी (छैठौँ दिनको पूजा) पनि मनाइन्छ। मिति तय गर्न पुरोहित वा घरका ठुलाबडासँग सल्लाह गर्नुहोस्।
Many families hold it a few days after birth, often on the 11th day. Others choose a different day or a little later. Some families also observe chhaiti, a worship on the sixth day. Ask a priest or your elders to fix the date.
सामान्य चरण / General steps
- नामको छलफल। परिवारमा सल्लाह गरेर केही नाम छान्नुहोस्। राशिको नामाक्षर हेर्ने भए जन्मपत्री अनुसार ज्योतिषीसँग पुष्टि गर्नुहोस्।
Discuss names in the family and shortlist a few. If you follow the rashi letter, confirm it with an astrologer from the birth chart. - मिति र समय तय गर्नुहोस्। पुरोहित वा ठुलाबडासँग सोधेर दिन र समय निश्चित गर्नुहोस्।
Fix the day and time after asking a priest or elders. - घर र सामग्री तयार पार्नुहोस्। पूजा हुने ठाउँ सफा गरेर तलको सामग्री जुटाउनुहोस्।
Clean the place of worship and gather the items listed below. - पूजा वा सानो विधि गर्नुहोस्। पुरोहित भए उहाँले विधि चलाउनुहुन्छ। केही परिवार घरमै सरल रूपमा गर्छन्।
If a priest is present, he leads the rite. Some families keep it simple at home. - नाम घोषणा गर्नुहोस्। परिवारका सदस्यको उपस्थितिमा शिशुको नाम भन्नुहोस् र आशीर्वाद दिनुहोस्।
Announce the name in front of family and give blessings. - खानपिन र भेटघाट। प्रसाद वा हल्का भोजन गरेर नातेदारसँग खुसी बाँड्नुहोस्।
Share prasad or a light meal and celebrate with relatives.
सामान्यतया चाहिने सामग्री / Items usually needed
यो सामान्य सूची हो। पुरोहित र परिवारको परम्परा अनुसार थपघट हुन सक्छ।
- कलश वा पानीको भाँडो
- अक्षता (चामल) र फूल
- दियो, धूप र बत्ती
- टीका
- शिशुका लागि नयाँ लुगा
- प्रसाद वा मिठाइ
- जन्मपत्री वा नामाक्षर लेखिएको कागज (भए)
This is a general list. Items may be added or dropped according to your priest and family tradition: a kalash or water pot, rice grains and flowers, a lamp with incense, tika, new clothes for the baby, prasad or sweets, and the birth chart or naming-letter note if you have one.
नाम कसरी रोज्ने / How to choose a name
- अर्थ राम्रो र स्पष्ट छ कि छैन हेर्नुहोस्।
- उच्चारण र लेखाइ सजिलो छ कि छैन हेर्नुहोस्।
- परिवारको परम्परा र ठुलाबडाको इच्छा बुझ्नुहोस्।
- चाहिए भने राशिको नामाक्षर मिलाउनुहोस्।
- घरमा बोलाउने छोटो नाम पनि सोच्नुहोस्।
Check that the meaning is good and clear, that the name is easy to say and write, that it suits family tradition and elders' wishes, and, if you wish, that it fits the rashi letter. Think of a short pet name too.
नाम दर्ता / Registering the name
जन्मदर्ता सम्बन्धित वडा कार्यालयमा गरिन्छ। समयसीमा र चाहिने कागजात वडामै सोध्नुहोस्। दर्ता गर्दा नामको हिज्जे सही लेखिएको छ भनेर जाँच्नुहोस्, किनकि पछि परिवर्तन गर्न झन्झट हुन सक्छ।
Birth registration is done at the local ward office. Ask the ward about the deadline and the documents needed. Check that the spelling of the name is correct, because changing it later can be a hassle.
